Ingredients
Dough:
4cupsbread flouror all-purpose, spelt or whole wheat flour
1tsp.salt
4tbsp.vegetable oil
2cupswater
Topping:
3large onionsyellow, white or red
⅛cupwater
8oz.baconthick cut
1 ½cupssour cream
8oz.cream cheeseroom temperature
1tbsp.heavy whipping cream
1tsp.coarse Kosher salt
½tsp.coarse black pepper
4green onions
Instructions
Add all the ingredients for the dough to a bowl and knead for about 5-10 minutes.
Peel and cut the onions into halves and then slice them. Cut the bacon into small strips.

Add ⅛ cup water to a large non-stick pan and cook the onions until all the water is evaporated and the onions are translucent.

Mix sour cream, cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
1 ½ cups sour cream, 8 oz. cream cheese, 1 tbsp. heavy whipping cream, 1 tsp. coarse Kosher salt, ½ tsp. coarse black pepper
Preheat the oven to 450 F.
Cut the dough into 2 pieces and roll out each piece of dough into a rectangle on parchment paper. Transfer the dough on the parchment paper to a baking sheet.
Spread the cream mixture evenly on top of both dough sheets.
Sprinkle with bacon strips and onion slices.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 450 F in the preheated oven.
Optional: In the meantime, wash the green onions and cut them into small slices. Sprinkle the flammkuchen with green onions after baking.
