    Ingredients
      

    For the dough:

    • 2 cups flour
    • 14 tbsp. butter
    • ½ cup sugar
    • 1 tbsp. vanilla sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 tbsp. bread crumbs
    • 15 oz. apple sauce

    For the streusel:

    • 1 cup butter
    • 2 cups flour
    • ⅔ cups sugar
    • 1 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1 pinch of salt

    Instructions
     

    Dough:

    • Cut butter into ½-inch cubes.
    • In a stand mixer knead flour, butter, sugar, vanilla sugar and egg to a smooth dough. Don´t over-knead.
    • Grease a baking sheet and flour lightly.
    • Roll out dough to fit the sheet.
    • Sprinkle the dough with the bread crumbs.
    • Spread apple sauce on top of the dough.
    • Preheat Oven to 350F

    Streusel:

    • Cut the butter into ½-inch cubes.
    • Add flour, sugar, butter cubes, cinnamon, and salt to a stand mixer bowl.
    • Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Sprinkle evenly on top of the apple sauce.
    • Bake at 350F for about 45 min. or until dough is done and streusel are golden brown.

    Notes

    Serving Tip: Serve with whipped cream and/or vanilla ice cream.

      I HAVE LOOKED FOR THIS RESIPE FOR OVER 20 YEARS .I THINK I HAVE FOUND IT I MADE UP MY DOUGH SPREAD IT IN A SHALLOW PAN AND PUT CRUSHED PINAPPLES ON THE DOUGH. IT WAS DELICIOUS

      What is vanilla sugar ? And what type of bread crumbs ? Thank you

        Hi Karen, best is to use plain bread crumbs. If you can´t find vanilla sugar in the shop, you can use 1/2 tbsp. of sugar plus a tsp. of vanilla extract.
