What is Doner Kebab in Germany?

Doner kebab is a German-Turkish sandwich that has become one of Germany's most popular fast foods. Meat is cooked on a rotating skewer before being sliced and served in a bread pocket or rolled up in a kind of Turkish tortilla with vegetables and delicious sauces.

    Ingredients & Substitutes

This döner spice blend calls for quite a few ingredients. But most of them are easy to get in every supermarket. The spice mix is not only amazing as a seasoning but also makes delicious dips and dressings. So don't be afraid to make a large batch.

    Instructions

It could not be simpler to make this spice blend. You only need to add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix them well.

Small glass jars with doner kebab spice mix on an orange and white napkin. Glass bowl with doner seasoning and wooden spoon in the background.

How To Use This Spice Blend

Seasoning - Sprinkle the doner spice on top of your doner sandwich or other meat or vegetable dishes. This will add a fragrant, slightly spicy flavor boost.

Marinade - This doner seasoning can also be used as a spice blend for your doner or other meat marinade. Just mix 2 tablespoons of the spice blend with ¾ of a cup of Greek yogurt. The result is just divine!

Dressing - Need a quick and flavorful dip or dressing? This Doner spice blend is the perfect seasoning. For a dressing, mix about half of a cup of Greek yogurt with half of a cup of buttermilk and 2 tablespoons of the spice mix. For a dip, mix the doner seasoning with cream cheese, Greek yogurt, mayo, or sour cream to your taste.
